eCommerce FAQs

How do I process credit card transactions?

In order to process credit card transactions, there are two choices:

  • Manually processing the transaction.
    1. You own a credit card payment processing machine already (swipe card machine) and have a commercial bank account.
    2. You enter the credit card info received from the order form into your payment processing machine.
    3. You send an email to the customer confirming or denying the order.
  • Automatically processing the transaction online.
    1. You need a commercial bank account with internet real-time online processing feature.
    2. You need an internet payment processor. These payment gateways authorize, settle and manage credit card transactions online. You do not need to re-enter the credit card payment and process each order manually.
You must ensure your internet payment processor is compatible with your shopping cart software.

How do I add a shopping cart to my web site?

If you are familiar with shipping orders to your customers, and am ready to sell things online, it is relatively easy to add a shopping cart to enable that process. You have several options:

  1. Install a free shopping cart script on your web site.
If you are not familiar with building a web site, we would suggest you to avoid this route.
    Agora Cart
  2. Use a third party shopping cart application.
If this is your first time building a shopping cart, or you are unfamiliar with eCommerce, then this, or the option below, may be the easiest path. As specialized applications, they are likely to provide the best support for your shopping cart. Some reputable providers include:
    Miva Corporation
  3. Use your hosting provider's eCommerce account.
The quality of the shopping carts developed internally by hosting companies varies from provider to provider. Some shopping carts are integrated well with web site designing software, but some don't. Selecting a reputable host is of utmost importance if eCommerce functions are required for your web site.
